Who are we ?
FCVPA promotes fishing and protects the interests of Valais fishermen. It promotes habitats for aquatic animals and plants, and protects endangered fish species.
On behalf of the canton, the FCVPA raises fish in its own fish farms and restocks over 150 public fishing streams with around 1.4 million young fish and 100,000 adult fish.

Our members
With its 12 sections and some 2,500 active members, the FCVPA is one of the largest cantonal fishing federations in Switzerland.
History
The FCVPA was founded in 1928 from various fishing societies. It has existed in its present form since 1961, and comprises 12 sections, each representing a district. Since 2014, the FCVPA has been a member of the Swiss Fishing Federation (FSP).
By-laws
On February 12, 2011, at the Delegates’ Meeting, the FCVPA amended its Articles of Association with the unanimous support of the delegates present. Articles 2 and 3 describe the purpose and tasks of the FCVPA.
Article 2, Purposes
The FCVPA’s aim is to safeguard and promote all interests relating to fish farming in the canton. It is interested in everything that promotes fishing, and generally safeguards the interests of anglers. It maintains and improves vital environments for aquatic fauna and flora. It protects endangered fish species. It fosters understanding and camaraderie within fishing communities.
Article 3, Tasks
The tasks of the FCVPA include:
- work closely with the cantonal hunting, fishing and wildlife service to restock and monitor all public waters in the Valais.
- combating water pollution, prosecuting polluters and offenders and seeking redress. It works in close collaboration with state bodies, in particular with the cantonal hunting, fishing and wildlife service.
- to ensure that all interventions in fish-farming waters comply with federal and cantonal legislation on the protection of fish and fish habitat
- to oppose any commercial, financial or industrial operation directly or indirectly related to its purpose, and to oppose any leasing of watercourses and bodies of water to private individuals
- to manage the fish farming of the canals leased to it
- to create and cultivate relations of interest and friendship with groups or associations pursuing the same goals.
