Although the Rhône and most of Valais’ waterways are used for hydroelectric power generation, the canton offers a wealth of fishing opportunities.

Those who like sport and adventure can fish the mountain streams and gorges, some of which are still very wild. For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, there are a large number of mountain lakes to choose from, as well as Lake Geneva.

Valais has also done a lot for fly-fishermen in recent years. Today, several rivers and one lake are reserved exclusively for fly fishermen.
